Botox & Xeomin
Anti-wrinkle Injectable(s) such as Botox & Xeomin are also known as a form of Botulinum Toxin. Both products work similarly by temporarily interrupting certain chemical signals that cause facial muscle movement. As a result of temporary muscle relaxation, these products can help address the many various medical & cosmetic concerns.
Botox and Xeomin injections are the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States. The beauty of Botox and Xeomin is that treatment can be tailored to your goals, whether you just want a subtle reduction of frown lines, or a complete relaxation of the muscles that make wrinkles.
Cosmetic Concerns
Horizontal Forehead Lines
To address the horizonal lines, botulinum toxin is injected into the Frontalis muscle. It is important not to overtreat the Frontalis muscle or it could lead to flattening of the eyebrow arch, or even sagging of the eyebrows. Our providers usually use about 10 to 15 units of product to target this location site.
Vertical Lines
To address the vertical 11’s lines, botulinum toxin is injected into the procerus & corrugator muscles.
Our providers usually use about 15 to 25 units to target this location site.
Crow’s Feet
To address the radial lines that arise from the corner of the eye(s) upon squinting and smiling, Xeomin is injected into the lateral portion of the orbicularis muscle. As a benefit, the lateral portion of the eyebrows will also lift slightly (known as a chemical eyebrow lift). Our providers usually use about 15 to 20 units total to target both sides of the face.
Downturned Smile
To address the appearance of a downturned smile, Xeomin is injected into the muscles at the corner of the mouth known as the depressor anguli oris (DAOs). By injecting the DAO muscle on both sides of the mouth, the shape is improved by lifting the corners to create a smiling expression instead of a frown. Our providers usually use about 10 units total to target both corners of the mouth.
Chin Dimpling
To address the appearance of a dimpling chin, botulinum toxin is injected into the mentalis muscle.
Our providers usually use about 5 to 8 units to target this location site.
Gummy Smile
To address the appearance of a gummy smile, botulinum toxin is delicately injected into the levator labii superioris. Our providers usually use about 5 units to target this location site.
Thin Upper Lip
To address the appearance of a thin upper lip, botulinum toxin is delicately injected into the top lip border. Our providers usually use about 2 to 4 units to target the muscle that causes the top lip to curl inward as a response to smiling, talking, etc.
Aging Neck
To address the appearance of an aging neck, botulinum toxin is injected into the platysmal bands.
Our providers usually use about 40 to 70 units to target this location site.
Medical Uses
Migraine Headaches
To address Migraine headaches, Botox is injected to the forehead and around the eyes, as well as the temples and back of the skull. Our providers usually use about 150 units total to target the entire head & neck area.
Temporomandibular Joint Pain
To address TMJ, Botox is injected to the masseter muscle(s). Our providers usually use about 100 units total to target each side of the face. Botox can be helpful for patients with excessive jaw clenching and tooth grinding, relieving the pain caused by excessive muscle activity.
Hyperhidrosis
To address excessive underarm sweating, Botox is injected to muscle(s) in both arm pits. Our providers usually use about 50 units total to target each arm.
