Robert Thomas, M.D.

Robert Thomas, M.D has been practicing general otolaryngology for the past twelve years in Minot, ND. He is thrilled to be returning home to the South with in-laws native to Richmond and family in Alabama. Dr. Thomas graduated Summa Cum Laude from Asbury University in Wilmore, KY and then went on to medical school at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then completed his ENT residency at the University of Florida where he graduated in 2012.

Following residency, Dr. Thomas chose to brave the frigid cold of North Dakota to help bring world class care to an underserved community. While on the prairie, he honed his excellent surgical skills taking care of both pediatric and adult patients and also learned to cultivate a more wholistic approach to patient care. After deciding to return closer to home, he wanted to join a patient-centered practice and found this at Richmond ENT. He could not be more excited to become a part of such a caring group of providers delivering the best possible care to the Richmond region.

Not only is Dr. Thomas passionate about ENT surgery, but also, over the past twelve years, he has discovered a deep appreciation for contemporary art. As half of The Thomas-Suwall Collection, he has been able to connect with, celebrate, and support emerging contemporary artists all around the country and recently had a nationally celebrated museum show of his art collection at Plains Art Museum in Fargo, ND. Having admired Richmond’s art scene from afar for years, he is delighted to join fellow RVA art lovers in continuing to support this vital part of our community.

Robert Thomas, M.D. will be joining Richmond ENT in 2025, and is thrilled to be joining such a wonderful team of patient-centered providers.
