Richmond ENT Attends SEAAIS Annual Meeting at The Greenbrier

Dr. Michael Armstrong, MD, along with nurse practitioners Becky Andrews, FNP, and Amy Meadors, FNP, recently attended the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Society (SEAAIS) , held at the historic Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

Becky Andrews and Amy Meadors are long-time SEAAIS members and play a central role in allergy diagnosis, immunotherapy, and long-term allergy management at Richmond ENT. Their participation reflects Richmond ENT’s strong commitment to team-based care and continuing education across all provider roles.

The Importance of Allergy Care in Otolaryngology

Allergic disease is deeply intertwined with many of the conditions treated in otolaryngology, including:

At Richmond ENT, comprehensive allergy evaluation and treatment are integral to caring for patients with both upper and lower airway disease. Our physicians and nurse practitioners work closely together to tailor treatment plans that may include environmental control, medications, immunotherapy, and newer biologic therapies when appropriate.

Commitment to Continuing Medical Education (CME)

The SEAAIS annual meeting provides high-quality continuing medical education focused on the latest developments in allergy, asthma, and immunology. Staying current through CME allows our providers to bring the most up-to-date, evidence-based care back to our patients in Central Virginia.

Dr. Armstrong, Becky Andrews, and Amy Meadors attended sessions covering advances in allergic rhinitis management, asthma care, and evolving immunologic therapies.

Updates in Immunology and Biologic Therapies

This year’s meeting highlighted important updates in monoclonal antibody therapies used in the treatment of allergic and inflammatory airway disease. Topics included:

  • Expanding indications for biologics in severe asthma and chronic allergic conditions

  • Patient selection and monitoring for monoclonal antibody therapy

  • Integration of biologics with traditional allergy and ENT treatments

  • Practical considerations for long-term management and outcomes

These advances continue to reshape how physicians and advanced practice providers manage complex allergic disease, offering new options for patients who do not respond adequately to conventional therapies.

A Memorable Setting

In addition to the outstanding educational program, the team enjoyed a beautiful fall weekend at The Greenbrier. Highlights included a scenic carriage ride on the resort grounds and a fascinating guided tour of the historic Cold War-era government bunker , a unique and memorable experience for all who attended.

Richmond ENT remains committed to lifelong learning, collaboration, and delivering the highest standard of care in allergy, sinus, and airway disease. We are proud of our providers’ ongoing engagement with regional and national professional societies and the dedication they bring back to our patients every day.
